UCL SciCon
connecting people, connecting science

Hello!
we are scicon.
WHAT IS OUR AIM?
To bring together world-class research and the next generation of scientists.
We want to create an environment for a two-way conversation about scientific ideas across all fields.
HOW DO
WE WANT TO
ACHIEVE THIS?
An informal setting promotes a more open-minded exchange of ideas between researchers and students by replacing the austerity of the lecture hall with lab workshops, talks, networking events and much more!
WHY DO WE
THINK IT'S
IMPORTANT?
Through collaboration with societies across UCL, students will have the opportunity to gain a new perspective on interdisciplinary research and develop contacts with experts in various fields.

I am a first year student of Biomedical Sciences, especially enjoying molecular biology, genetics, and cancer biomedicine. I come from Warsaw, Poland, absolutely love travelling and hiking (best combined), learning new things and occasional movies. Living my best life in London :-).

Anatolii - Treasurer
I’m a first year Natural Sciences student studying organic chemistry with cell & molecular biology. I am really interested in development and construction of neuromuscular-prosthetic interfaces as it’s pretty interdisciplinary and complex field if you ask me!) At free time I enjoy playing chess and practicing bjj.

Nathan - TReasurer
I’m a second year Natural Sciences student studying physical chemistry and physics. My main interest is investigating how molecules behave under the presence of light using different techniques including spectroscopy. I really enjoy playing the drums and jamming with other people.

Clara -Vice president
I’m a third-year Natural Sciences student studying Genetics, Evolution & Environment and Earth Sciences. Given my course, this may not come as a surprise, but I am really interested in using palaeontological and molecular data to understand species evolution and distribution! At the moment, I am also testing whether my theoretical interest in biology will convert into an okay green thumb :)

Sebastian- events
I’m a second year Natural Sciences student taking synthetic organic chemistry and cell & molecular biology. My main interest is in cells and how the complex web of cellular interactions results in functioning organisms. I love rock climbing and adventuring into the unknown.

Claudia -
Events
I’m a first year Natural Sciences student taking the biomedical sciences and organic chemistry streams. I am particularly interested in the causes of diseases, their pathways and how we can use chemistry to mitigate them. In my spare time I enjoy being active either in the gym or in nature.

I am a second year studying Neuroscience and Psychology with Maths and Stats. I'm very interested in how things work and am really passionate about AI and computational neuroscience. However, my ultimate dream is to be a Russian princess (Anastasia is my favourite childhood movie what can I say) but if that doesn't pan out then I'll settle for any of the prior. I know I have a resting stern face (often confused to be sad) but I am probably just thinking about stuff - I do a lot of that. Oh yeah and I always talk about Romania :D
